So basic you’ll wonder why you even bought them in the past and uses up your artisian organic sourdough that has gone stale. Proper homemade breadcrumbs will make all the flavour and texture difference to your meal.
If you look at the ingredients of a conventional packet of breadcrumbs from your supermarket, you’ll see they’re not even vegan and contain fish by product – eughck! And they taste revolting.
- Turn on oven to 100°C
- Using any stale bread, break it up and put into a food processor and blend until resembles breadcrumbs (funny that huh?)
- Spread out on a flat baking sheet
- Pop in the oven for 5 minutes. Take out, stir around and put back in for another 5 minutes. Voila – you should have dried out your bread so no moisture remains, but the are not browned.
- Store in an airtight container.
